  • A Guest Lecturer was organized on 15th August 2020, Dr.Susan Paul., MA, Ph.D in History, Assistant Professor, Stella Maris College, was the resource person for the guest lecture.
  • A Guest Lecturer was organized on 12th Septmber 2020. HR specialization. Students and alumni’s of social work department of Mar Gregorios College participated in this guest lecture program. Ms.Toral. V was the resource person for the guest lecture.
  • Movie Screening on Gender Equality was held on 22 July 2019.Awareness Programme on Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Abuse in collaboration with International Justice Mission and High court District Legal service Authority on 23 July 2019.OUTREACH FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN LIVING IN SUBSTANDARD HABITATION On 18-8-19, The Students of the Department of Social Work of various Colleges, joined hands in spreading joy and cheer.
  • AWARENESS STREET PLAY ON EYE DONATION: A street play was conducted on 25.08.2019 stressing the importance of eye donation,breaking misconceptions and stereotypes and fears regarding theprocess.
  • BASIC LIFE SUPPORT SKILLS AND FIRST AID AWARENESS WORKSHOP was held on 27 august 2019 at Mar Gregorios Conference Hall.AWARENESS PROGRAM ON CELL PHONE USAGE was conducted on 29.08.19, by the school students of Govt. Boys School, Mogappair East.
  • A workshop on CHILD RIGHTS SENSITIZATION was conducted on 30 & 31st August in Egmore on Child Rights Sensitization. SEMINAR ON SOCIAL WORK RESPONSE TO DISASTERS was held on  26. 09.19.    
  • FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAM, KANCHIKAMAKOTI HOSPITAL was held on 25.09.19. 
  • AWARENES ON HIGHER EDUCATION FORGIRLS, A PROJECT BY PUTHRI was held on 01.10.19. Care of Elderly people held on 01.10.19.
  • CORPORATE CONQUEROR ASSESSMENT AND WORKSHOP ON “HOW TO SEAMLESSLY WIN A CORPOPORATE JOB AND SURVIVE WITH SUCCESS was held on 26.11.19.
  • ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPHY was held on 10.01.2020
  • ECO FRIENDLY LIFE TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Department of Social Work had organized a seminar on ‘Eco Friendly Life towards Sustainable Development’ on 14th August. Mr.Vincent, Asst Professor, Dept of Social Work, Loyola College addressed the students on the importance of consuming natural foods and natural ways of living.
  • MOU A MOU was signed between MGC and PCVC on 13th August 2018. This MOU would assist the students to undergo training on gender equality and sensitivity. This would create an environment that would be safe for women, empower them and contribute to growth of nation.
  • BALM Medical & Psychiatric Social Work students from second yrs, participated in “Sexuality – Mental Health & Rights” , organized by BALM, (The Banyan Academy of Leadership) in Mental Health on 18th August 2018. Panel discussion highlighted the deprivation of rights of the mentally ill. Students participated in events like Quiz, Face painting and collage making and secured first prizes in all the events.
  • CANSTOP A one day Seminar was organized on Cancer awareness. This was organized by the Department in collaboration with CANSTOP ( Outreach program of SMF) Dr.Senthilnathan, MDS, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon from Sundaram Medical Foundation and Ms.Shanmugapriya, Social Worker addressed the students. They sensitized on various types of cancer, factors that contribute to cancer. He stressed on the need to change our life styles to prevent cancer.
  • INSTALLATION OF YOUTH UNITE – PROJECT Installation of YOUTH UNITE project took place on 7th September. Ms. Swetha Shankar - Director of Client Services, Ms.Vidya Dinakaran- Programme Associate, Ms.Rashmi Singh – Director of prevention services and Ms.Sandhya Sridhar- Board Member were present in the program. This initiative would empower the female students, sensitize them on their rights and also would restructure the young minds of male student’s attitude towards females. This would reduce the domestic violence and crime rate.
  • BALA JANAAGRAHA Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship & Democracy organized a one day seminar for students on 24th Sept. Mr. Rajasekar, Facilitator of Bala Janaagraha addressed the students on the rights of citizen’s equality, engaging with local government in addressing civic issues, importance of voting, conservation of resources like water and power and saying no to bribe.
  • YUVA INDIA On 25th September, a workshop on Bridging the Gap was organized by the department of Social Work. Ms.Aishwarya Kalpathi Aghoram, Founder and CEO of YUVA India and Mr.Richard Robert, COO of YUVA India addressed the students. This sensitized the students on the importance of political power, the power of youth in politic, the indifference expressed by youth towards it, the different provisions provided by the government towards its citizens, lack of awareness about these provisions were addressed. They tried to bring in transparency of the work of the government to the students.
  • AVATAR- PUTHRI On 26th, one day seminar was organized by department of Social Work. Ms.Krithika Srinivasan, Senior Consultant- Donor Relations from AVATAR Human Capital Trust and Mr. Prince, Coordinator from Puthri (Project) addressed the students on the importance of education for girls. They highlighted on the factors that contributed to school drop outs. They invited our students to be mentors for female students studying in government schools.
  • DISASTER MANAGEMENT A One day workshop on disaster management was organized by department of Social Work in collaboration with Candles (NGO). Mr.Rajesh Kannan, District Fire Officer , Chennai Suburban Dist, Consultant, Tamilnadu State Disaster Management & Mitigation and Rtr. Tarun Murugesan, Rashtuya Life Saving Society India were the resource persons for the Day. Officials from fire service gave demo on life saving during floods and fire accidents. The presence of fire engine and mannequins made the demo more realistic.
  • SAVE TRUST Mr.David Silver , donor to SAVE Trust, from Yearsahead , UK visited the Department of Social Work on 27th September. He was companied by Mr. Baskher from SAVE Trust. They interacted with Ms.Roshan and Ms. Kavya (our students who were placed in SAVE Trust for their concurrent field work), Dr.M.Sudha (HOD), Ms.Suga Priyanka (Asst Professor). The discussion revolved around students experiences in SAVE , their perceptions towards beneficiaries , skills that are required by youth who live in slums for employability and self sustainability . They had requested the Department to assist the community in empowering the youth.
  • ROWTHIRAM PAZHAGU Our students participated in the cultural event - ROWTHIRAM PAZHAGU organized by Department of Social Work, Stella Maris on 1st October 2018. They Participated in creative writing, Ad- Zap, face painting and singing. They won 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 1st prizes in creative writing, Ad- Zap, face painting and singing.
  • National level Workshop was organised on Rational Emotive Therapy on 4th August 2018. Mr.Thaddeus Alphonso, Assistant Director of Niraivagam and Dr.K,Sathyamoorthy, Asst Professor, Department of Social Work, Madras Social of Social Work were the resource persons for the day. Students from Bishop Heber College, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Loyola College, Madras School of Social Work, Tamil Nadu Open University, SNB Vaishnav Colleg, Hindustan University, Hindustan College of Arts & Science attended the workshop.
  • Department of Social Work in collaboration with AWARE organised a workshop on prevention of child sexual abuse on 3rd August 2018.
  • First and Second year students of Social Work participated in the program organized by Dhagam Foundation on Sanitation – Kakoos – A – Kanoom, to resort and reclaim public toilets for women in Chennai on 28th July 2018.
  • Students from 2nd year MSW participate in two day workshop organised by Centre for Child Rights. Workshop on sensitisation of Child Rights for students of Social Work at ICSA was held on 27th and 28th July 2018.
  • Increase in the rate of crime and violence against women force the Department of Social Work to study critically analyse the different causes, prevention of violence and crime and empowering women to overcome such evils, A guest lecture by Ms.Vidhya (PCVC) on 26th july 2018, enlightened on gender equality and violent behaviour of certain men against women.
  • Department had organised a guest lecture on dare to be different. Ms.Ester Shanthi, Manager of Otteri cremation ground an Malini Jeevarathinam, gender fluid were the guest for the day. They spoke on the hardships faced by them in the society. Short film “Gentle Women and Ladies was played” Grid an suggestion box was inaugurated to address the grievance of the students.
  • On 16th July, second year students of MSW attended workshop on Project Proposal Writing. The Director of Nessakaram, Rev.Fr. Joseph Raj was the resource person.
